I hope to post a fish fact or tip weekly to help us all become better, more knowledgeable anglers.
Enjoy,
Trout Slayer
A wild trout is a trout that was born in the wild and spends its life cycle in the wild, regardless of the origin of its parents or ancestors. A native trout is a fish that was found here originally, prior to human influences. The California State freshwater fish is the Golden Trout. It is one of the very few fish that you can still catch that is both Native and Wild. Depending on the location of where you catch your fish it can make the difference if it is native, wild or a stocker. It is very important for all of us at meandmyfish.com to catch and release wild and native trout.
