Fish Fact Number 2

How long do fish live?

I often wonder how long fish live in a natural environment. That is to say their life was not cut short by habitat, disease or one of us anglers cooking them for dinner! Here are a few species life expectancies;

Rainbow Trout - 11 years

German Browns - 12 years

Golden Trout - 9 years

Bullhead Catfish - 25 years

Bass (large or smallmouth) 10 years

Blue-fin Tuna - 20 years

Native or Wild Trout, what is the difference?

A wild trout is a trout that was born in the wild and spends its life cycle in the wild, regardless of the origin of its parents or ancestors. A native trout is a fish that was found here originally, prior to human influences. The California State freshwater fish is the Golden Trout. It is one of

You hit it right on the money, that's exactly where these pics are. There is that power plant just below Silverlake that has these gnarly tracks my Dad insited we hike to get to our honey holes, needless to say we did that hike twice! And once on horseback ;)

Hahaha, you mean The Mobil!?! When we were there a week ago they had a 3 piece jazz band and wine on the green. Classic. We actually ended up camping in Doc and Al's RV Resort, which sits on Robinson Creek. It was a fluke deciding to stay there, but turned out to be just perfect. We were right off Twin Lakes Rd and Hackamore in Bridgeport. There are huge cow pastures that run along Twin Lakes Rd that we snuck on to, and fished out of there. Fished West Walker River, some spots throughout Lee Vining and hit the Lower Owens (waaaaaay in the back) before we headed home....and that my friend, is where a little bit of hot pink Gulp eggs brought me my 6inch German Brown ;)

*oh, and no worries on the spell check....it's quite funny considering I myself am the worst speller in the world*

Thanks for the info, Slayer! I have been checking Craig's List daily for a nice used kayak. Looks like I might have to save some more coin before I pick one up. The good ones are not cheap!

Thanks! Those pics were from the '09 opener around Bishop. Intake 2, Sabrina, North and South Lakes. Dude, I dig your kayak. I have been thinking of picking one up to hit the kelp beds this summer. Any recommendations?
