Every year, I’ve made it my New Year’s resolution to fish more than I did the year before. With the exception of 1 year in the past 10, I’ve made it happen.

How long do fish live?

I often wonder how long fish live in a natural environment. That is to say their life was not cut short by habitat, disease or one of us anglers cooking them for dinner! Here are a few species life expectancies;

Rainbow Trout - 11 years

German Browns - 12 years

Golden Trout - 9 years

Bullhead Catfish - 25 years

Bass (large or smallmouth) 10 years

Blue-fin Tuna - 20…

I found out the hard way this morning after driving up with Lu to check the holes and see if there has been any progress in the trout stock. Angeles forest is closed. No Parking. No hiking. No camping. NO FISHING.
